Nora and Dani are going grocery shopping for a dinner they are having with their friend Ren. They need to buy the following ingredients: 1 pound of ground beef 1 onion, chopped 2 cloves of garlic, minced 1 green bell pepper, chopped 1 (15 ounce) can of black beans, rinsed and drained 1 (15 ounce) can of corn, drained 1 (10 ounce) can of diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained 1 teaspoon chili powder 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper To make the chili, Nora and Dani will brown the ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Once the beef is browned, they will add the onion, garlic, and bell pepper and cook until softened. Then, they will add the black beans, corn, tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the chili is thickened and the flavors have melded. Serve with your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, and guacamole.
