How to Make Sweet and Sour Chicken
Ingredients:
1 pound of boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
1/2 cup of cornstarch
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
1 egg
1 cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of chicken broth
1/2 cup of white vinegar
1/4 cup of ketchup
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of water
1/4 cup of chopped green onions
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
2. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture.
3. Beat the egg in a shallow bowl.
4. Dip the chicken pieces in the egg.
5. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
6. Fry the chicken pieces in the hot oil until golden brown on all sides.
7. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
8. In the same skillet, add the chicken broth, vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, and cornstarch.
9. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
10. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
11. Add the chicken back to the skillet and stir to coat.
12. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the chicken is heated through.
13. Garnish with green onions and serve immediately.
