How to Make Delicious Homemade Gelato
Gelato is a delicious and refreshing frozen treat that is perfect for summer. It is made with milk, cream, sugar, and flavorings, and it is churned slowly to create a light and airy texture. Homemade gelato is easy to make, and it is much healthier than store-bought gelato.
Ingredients
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
Various flavorings, such as chocolate chips, fruit, or nuts
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, cream, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and salt. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly.
2. Reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened and coats the back of a spoon.
3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
4. Pour the mixture into a blender and add your desired flavorings. Blend until smooth.
5. Pour the mixture into a 9x5 inch loaf pan and freeze for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
6. Before serving, let the gelato sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften.
