The wind howled through the trees, and the rain beat down on the roof of the small cabin. Inside, a young woman sat by the fire, reading a book. She was lost in the story, and for a moment, she forgot all about the storm raging outside.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash of thunder, and the lights went out. The woman gasped and dropped her book. She was plunged into darkness.
She sat there for a moment, frozen with fear. Then, she slowly got up and made her way to the fireplace. She fumbled in the darkness for a match, and finally managed to light a candle.
The candlelight cast a flickering glow over the room. The woman looked around, and her eyes widened in fear. There, standing in the doorway, was a tall, dark figure.
The figure took a step towards her, and she screamed. She turned and ran, but the figure was faster. It caught her by the arm and dragged her back into the room.
The woman struggled, but the figure was too strong. It threw her to the ground and stood over her, its eyes glowing red in the darkness.
The woman closed her eyes and waited for the end. But then, she heard a voice.
"Don't be afraid," the voice said. "I won't hurt you."
The woman opened her eyes and looked up. The figure was gone. In its place was a young man, with kind eyes and a gentle smile.
"Who are you?" the woman asked.
"I'm a friend," the man said. "I'm here to help you."
The woman didn't know what to say. She had never seen this man before, but she felt like she could trust him.
"How did you get here?" she asked.
"I came through the storm," the man said. "I was drawn to your light."
The woman looked at the candle in her hand. It was still flickering, but it was getting dimmer.
"My light?" she asked.
"Yes," the man said. "Your light is very strong. It drew me to you."
The woman didn't understand what the man was talking about, but she didn't have time to ask any more questions. The candle was about to go out.
"I have to go," the man said. "But I'll be back."
And with that, he was gone.
The woman was left alone in the darkness. She sat there for a long time, thinking about what had just happened. She didn't know who the man was, or why he had come to her, but she knew that he had saved her life.
The next morning, the sun was shining and the birds were singing. The woman went outside and looked around. The storm was over, and the world was a beautiful place.
The woman smiled. She knew that she would never forget the night the stranger came to her in the storm.
