The Lost Rubber Duck
The rubber duck was floating in the bathtub, all alone. It had been there for a long time, and it was starting to get lonely. It wanted to go home, but it didn't know how.
Suddenly, the bathtub drain started to gurgle. The rubber duck looked down and saw that the water was starting to go down. The duck started to panic. It didn't want to go down the drain!
The duck paddled as hard as it could, but it was no use. The water was getting faster and faster, and the duck was being pulled closer and closer to the drain.
Just when the duck thought it was all over, a hand reached into the bathtub and grabbed it. The duck was so relieved! It had been rescued!
The hand pulled the duck out of the bathtub and set it on the edge. The duck looked up and saw a little girl smiling at it.
"Hello," said the little girl. "My name is Emily. What's your name?"
"My name is Rubber Duck," said the duck.
"It's nice to meet you, Rubber Duck," said Emily. "Where do you live?"
"I live in the bathtub," said the duck.
"But you don't belong in the bathtub," said Emily. "You belong in a pond with other ducks."
"I know," said the duck. "But I don't know how to get to a pond."
"I'll help you," said Emily. "I'll take you to the park, and we can find a pond there."
Emily picked up the duck and carried it out of the bathroom. She put the duck in her backpack and then they went outside.
Emily and the duck walked to the park. They found a pond and the duck was so happy! It swam around and played with the other ducks.
The duck was so grateful to Emily for helping it find its way home. It quacked happily and swam over to Emily.
"Thank you," said the duck. "You're the best friend a duck could ask for."
"You're welcome," said Emily. "I'm glad I could help."
Emily and the duck played in the pond for a while longer. Then, it was time for Emily to go home.
"I have to go now," said Emily. "But I'll come back and visit you again soon."
"I'll be waiting," said the duck.
Emily waved goodbye to the duck and then she walked away. The duck watched her go, and then it turned and swam back to the other ducks.
The duck was happy to be home. It had a new friend, and it was finally where it belonged.
