The snowman stood in the middle of the yard, his carrot nose and coal eyes beaming out from his white face. He was a funny-looking fellow, with his lopsided hat and scarf, but he was also a welcome sight on this cold winter day. The children gathered around the snowman, eager to dress him up. They found a red hat and scarf in the shed, and they put them on the snowman's head and neck. Then they found a pair of old boots and put them on his feet. The snowman looked even more ridiculous now, but the children laughed and clapped their hands. They had had a lot of fun dressing up the snowman, and they were proud of their work. The snowman stood in the yard for many days, a reminder of the joy of the winter holidays. He eventually melted away, but the children's memories of him would last a lifetime.
