The Golden Apples of the King Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Alice who lived in a small village. One day, she was walking in the forest when she came across a beautiful garden. The trees were laden with golden apples, and Alice couldn't resist picking one. As soon as she did, she heard a loud voice behind her. "Who dares to steal from my garden?" cried the King. Alice turned around and saw a tall, imposing man with a long white beard. He was holding a golden pair of scissors. "I'm sorry, Your Majesty," said Alice. "I didn't mean to steal your apple. It was just so beautiful, I couldn't help myself." "You will pay for your crime," said the King. "You will be sentenced to death." Alice was terrified. She didn't know what to do. Just then, a wise old woman appeared. "Don't worry, child," she said. "I will help you." The old woman turned to the King and said, "Your Majesty, I know that you are a just and fair ruler. You would not sentence an innocent girl to death for a simple mistake." The King thought for a moment. "You are right," he said. "I will not sentence her to death. But she must be punished." "I will accept any punishment," said Alice. "Very well," said the King. "You will be banished from my kingdom. You will never be allowed to return." Alice was heartbroken, but she knew that she had no choice. She bowed to the King and said, "I bid you farewell, Your Majesty." Alice turned and walked away, tears streaming down her face. She didn't know where she would go, but she knew that she would never forget the golden apples of the King.
