"It was Easter Sunday and Jenny was preparing a feast for her family. She had been baking all day and had finally finished the last of the dishes. But there was one more thing she needed to do: make the Hot Cross Buns. These were the most important part of the Easter meal and she wanted to make sure they were perfect. She gathered her ingredients and began to work. She mixed the flour, sugar, butter, eggs, and milk together until they formed a dough. Then she kneaded it for several minutes until it was smooth and elastic. She cut the dough into small pieces and formed them into buns. Then she placed them on a baking sheet and brushed them with a mixture of milk and egg. Finally, she added the cross-shaped cuts to the tops of the buns. The buns went into the oven and Jenny waited anxiously for them to bake. When they were done, she took them out of the oven and let them cool. Then she served them to her family. Everyone loved the Hot Cross Buns and Jenny was so happy that she had been able to make them. She knew that they would be a special part of their Easter meal."
