"Mother, can I have this toy?" The little girl begged as she gazed longingly at the shiny new object in the store window. Her mother smiled indulgently. She knew how excited her daughter was about Christmas, and she was happy to indulge her a little. "Of course you can," she said. "But only if you promise to be a good girl and help me pick out gifts for your grandparents." The little girl nodded eagerly. She loved helping her mother shop for Christmas presents. It was always so much fun to see the look on her grandparents' faces when they opened their gifts on Christmas morning. The mother and daughter spent the next hour browsing the store, picking out perfect gifts for everyone on their list. The little girl had a great time helping her mother, and she was even more excited about Christmas than she had been before. As they were leaving the store, the little girl turned to her mother and said, "Thank you for letting me get that new toy. It's the best Christmas present ever!" Her mother smiled and hugged her daughter. "You're welcome," she said. "I'm glad you're happy." The little girl skipped happily out of the store, her arms filled with presents. She couldn't wait to see the look on her grandparents' faces when they opened their gifts on Christmas morning.
