Play a Game of Pool with the Planets The planets in our solar system are like a giant pool table, with the Sun at the center. If you were to play a game of pool on this cosmic table, you would need to use a very small cue ball and very large pool balls. The planets would be the obstacles that you would have to avoid hitting. The smallest planet in our solar system is Mercury, which is about the size of a golf ball. The largest planet is Jupiter, which is about the size of a small basketball. So, if you were to use a standard-size pool cue ball, the planets would be about the size of a grain of sand. To make the game more challenging, you could also add in the dwarf planets. These are objects that are in orbit around the Sun, but they are not big enough to be considered planets. The largest dwarf planet is Pluto, which is about the size of a large pizza. With so many obstacles to avoid, playing a game of pool with the planets would be a very difficult task. But it would also be a lot of fun!
