You are the greatest archer in the Iroquois Nation, the chief said to me. I felt a surge of pride at his words. I had trained hard for many years, and it was finally paying off. I was ready to prove myself in battle. The next day, we set out on a raid against a neighboring tribe. I was nervous, but also excited. I had never been in battle before, but I knew that I was ready. I took my place in the line of archers, and we waited for the signal to attack. When the signal came, we let loose a volley of arrows. The enemy was caught off guard, and they quickly fell back. We pursued them, and soon they were in full retreat. I had shot several arrows, and I knew that I had hit my targets. I felt a sense of accomplishment, and I knew that I had made my tribe proud. We returned to our village victorious. The chief was pleased with our success, and he praised me for my archery skills. I was proud of my accomplishment, and I knew that I would continue to train hard so that I could always be ready to defend my people.
